Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if the race is sold out? What are my options?
    • Many times we will open same day race registrations based on the show rate of runners.  This will be communicated via our Facebook Event Page. Another option is to sign up for the Virtual Option. If you register by March 10, 2018 you will be guaranteed a medal and t-shirt. Registration for the Virtual Run after this date may not guarantee swag.
  • What is the 13.1 Challenge? How does it work??
    • This is  a challenge to run both races. You will run the 5k at 8:30 am. You will get your medal for the 5k.  You must be back at the start line to start your second race at 9:30. You will get your 10 miler medal when you finish the 10 mile race and will be directed to get your challenge medal.  You will fully complete the 5k and have downtime depending on how fast you finish your 5k before you line back up to start the 10 miler.
  • Are strollers allowed on the course?
    • Due to the terrain of the course strollers are not allowed on the course with the runners for safety purposes.
  • Are walkers allowed to participate?
    • Yes but please know there are cut off times for each race. Walkers will need to stay to the right of the course to allow runners to safely pass. We ask that you start at the back of the corral for safety purposes.  The 5k must be completed in one hour and the 10 miler must be completed in 2.5 hours.
  • What happens if I am unable to attend? Do you offer a refund or deferment?
    • The race is non-refundable and there are no options to defer to the next year. New this year if you want to transfer to another runner the fee is $10.00 and you must do so by 5/11/18. You log onto your active race account, find this race, and then select the transfer option.  We also do not permit the selling of bibs once the transfer period has ended.  We are unable to switch any runners to virtual after 5/11/18. The systems are shut down and it is being processed for bib assignments.
  • Are dogs allowed to run on the course?
    • Due to insurance regulations dogs are not permitted on the actual course unless they are a service dog.
  • Are there any parking fees?
    • All runners will be given a free parking pass at packet pick up.  All others there is a $5.00 parking fee that will be due at the 64th street station when you pull in.  Please carpool if possible to cut down on traffic flow and ensure there are plenty of spaces at the boat ramp.
  • Is there any same day packet pick-up?
    • There will only be no same day packet pick up unless you are a registered out of  town runner (out of Hampton Roads area).  There will be two different dates, times, and locations to make it as convenient as possible.
